Scientists at work!

The Giraffes are learning about ‘Animals Including Humans’ this term and to start off our topic we investigated the human digestive system! We did this by learning about the job of saliva in breaking down food by chewing a piece of bread for 1 minute and then seeing how the texture and taste changed as we held it in our mouths. Can you remember what happened?

Next, we replicated the job of the stomach by putting orange juice and crackers in a zip lock bag and squeezing the bag. The results showed us what happens in the stomach as food is digested! We had great fun doing this and it really helped us to understand the role of the stomach in the digestive system!
