‘THOMPSON’S WAR’ – WW2 THEATRE PRODUCTION & DRAMA WORKSHOP

On Friday 27th January, we were really fortunate to have a special treat for Year 4… The Hobgoblin Theatre Company came to our school to give an exclusive special performance of ‘Thompson’s War’- to our year group only, in the Small Hall.

It was set in 1940 and Britain was at war with Germany. We followed the story of Lizzie and the rest of the Thompson family and saw how the war affected lives at home, both bringing people together and tearing them apart. This original play was a great way to bring World War 2 alive in our school hall and we loved it.

It was an intimate performance and this interactive play blended action and discussion to fully immerse us all in the story. As well as watching the play the children had the chance to discuss the action they were watching in ‘interactions’ with the actors throughout the show. This was followed by an excellent hour long DRAMA WORKSHOP, where we all had a chance to explore the WW2 themes in more detail and mime/act out the scenes for ourselves.

We would like to thank you all, children and parents, for the amazing WW2 Home Learning project that have been coming in over the last week. They are on display in the School Corridor and also in our Classrooms. Please pop along and have a look.
