Using our handmade instruments in Science

Today, we used our handmade instruments in Science to investigate how to make sound higher or lower (pitch) and louder or quieter (volume). We had a jam!

We found out that banging, shaking, or tapping our instrument harder made a louder sound.

We also found out that with some instruments, such as the maraca, the pitch of the sound can only be changed by what the instrument is made of or what is inside the instrument. For example, a glass maraca makes a higher pitched sound than a plastic maraca.
